The Process Of Becoming is a mixed media, interactive art piece that plays two recorded tracks in stereo.

The wall hanging piece contains an amplifier, two speakers, and a cassette tape recorder. The recorder can be turned on at any time to record the music being played, as well as any ambient room sounds or voices nearby. It can then be played back to add another layer to the track being played, creating an endless amount of variation and interaction. It also contains a 30 minute hourglass that corresponds roughly to the length of each track. The piece also has three pockets containing photos, book pages, partial poems, small art pieces, ticket stubs, and other items that relate to the sounds and experiences in the music. A rear view mirror reminds you you're a part of the piece, in the now, and at the same time you're looking behind, reflecting on the past.

The Process Of Becoming is about the experiences of growing and learning over time, and how the events in our lives shape us. It's also about how we control and shape things in our lives. All these events can be lessons if we choose.
